Marvin Gaye born Marvin Pentz Gay Jr April 2 1939 April 1 1984 was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Gaye helped to shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s, first as an in house session player and later as a solo artist with a string of hits, including Aint That Peculiar, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) and I Heard It Through the Grapevine, and duet recordings with Mary Wells, Kim Weston, Diana Ross and Tammi Terrell, later earning the titles "Prince of Motown" and Prince of Soul.During the 1970s, he recorded the concept albums What's Going On and Lets Get It On and became one of the first artists in Motown to break away from the reins of their production company. | Michael Kelland John Hutchence 22 January 1960 22 November 1997was an Australian musician and actor. He was a founding member, lead singer and lyricist of rock band INXS from 1977 until his death in 1997. He was a member of short lived pop rock group Max Q and recorded solo material which was released posthumously. He acted in feature films, including Dogs in Space, Frankenstein Unbound 1990 and Limp 1997. According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane,Hutchence was the archetypal rock showman. He exuded an overtly sexual, macho cool with his flowing locks, and lithe and exuberant stage movements.Hutchence won the 'Best International Artist at the 1991 BRIT Awards with INXS winning the related group award. |
